A Keyword is a unique term (letters and/or numbers) that people can use to communicate with you via a short code. Club Texting's short code in the United States is 25827 (CLUBS), and in Canada it is 212121. The basic idea is that a customer texts your KEYWORD to 25827 (our short code). When they do so they are automatically added to your list of contacts.
Keywords are an extremely powerful tool when it comes to building a successful mobile marketing campaign. The best way to understand what keywords can do is to look at some examples. We’ve setup a couple of keywords on 25827 that you can text into right now, to see how easy it is for your customers to work with keywords. In all of these examples, as soon as a customer texts in your Keyword, they'll be added to your contact list so you can text them in the future.
If you want to run contests and polls, or if you have multiple locations, Sub Keywords are a cost effective way of leveraging a single Keyword for multiple campaigns. Scroll down to see how Sub Keywords work.
Want to try things out with a free demo Keyword? Great, because every Club Texting account is preloaded with a fully functional demo Keyword - just click over to the Keyword page once you've logged in to your account.
If you are on the Pay & Go plan, Keywords cost $25/month to rent ($30 in Canada). Many of our monthly plans include free Keywords. See plans & pricing here.
JEWELRY – This is an example of a marketing alerts campaign. Build loyalty by letting interested customers know about specials before everyone else – ‘Welcome 2 Davids Jewels preferred customer program. We will send u exclusive invites 2 trunk shows 2 attend before the general public! Reply STOP JEWELRY to end.’

2FOR1 – This is an example of the power of mobile couponing. When you encourage your customers to text in to receive a coupon, you also collect their phone number, which you can use for future marketing campaigns (with permission) – ‘Thx for joining our VIP text club! Show this to your server and get 2-4-1 appetizers all night. Reply STOP 2FOR1 to end.’

ECLIPSE - This is an example of a Keyword with two Sub-Keywords, DINE and DANCE. Eclipse in this example is a nightclub. If a customer texts Eclipse to 25827 they'll receive back the message 'Thanks for joining the Eclipse VIP list. Stay tuned for specials and promotions for dining and dancing @ Eclipse! 212-255-4663'
If they text in ECLIPSE DINE or ECLIPSE DANCE they'll signup for info about either dining or dancing at Eclipse. You can use Sub-Keywords for voting, specials on different days, or, like in this example, multiple locations.

Setting up Sub-Keywords is very similar to setting up a regular Keyword. Once you've created a Keyword in your Club Texting account, just click the plus icon beside that Keyword, then click Add Sub Keyword.
You can then setup a customized response and connect the Sub Keyword to the Groups of your choice.
