Customer Spotlight
The Yellow Rose, located in Austin, TX, is truly a World Famous Cabaret. For over 26 years, the “Rose” has been the most widely recognized Gentlemen's Club in central Texas. In fact, they were recently the only cabaret in Central Texas to be nominated by Exotic Dancer Magazine as 2007 Gentlemen's Club of the Year. “There is something for everyone at the World Famous Yellow Rose”
Objective:
Brodie Owen, Director of Marketing/Promotions, describes the Yellow Rose to be “like Cheers…with a twist. Our customers are indeed our friends, and many of them are considered to be family.” Repeat business is huge here, and when Brodie decided it was time to implement a turn-key text messaging service for interactive promotions, he partnered with Club Texting.
Solution:
In January 2008 the Yellow Rose kicked off their first campaign, promising “We’ll Cover Your Cover” to all SMS subscribers throughout the month. Customers who sign up receive “the most exciting specials and invitations that we’ve reserved exclusively for members of the SMS Party List.” The program is positioned to have “Member’s Only” benefits that include admission, discounted drink specials and invitations to their exclusive “VIP Parties.”
Over the next couple months, the Yellow Rose expanded their texting promotions to work hand in hand with their newly redesigned website. Every page on their site has the same heading (pictured below), where people can subscribe using Club Texting’s customizable signup widget. A few other means of promotion include:
- Flyers encouraging customers to join are distributed both in-venue and on Austin’s legendary “6th Street.”
- Continuous communication to potential subscribers via MySpace, Facebook and their extensive e-mail database
- Exposure on various LCD screens in-venue and inside their limousine

Outcome:
"After having been with a different provider, we are more than satisfied with the features and service provided by ClubTexting.com. Prompt and reliable delivery, courteous and attentive representatives, along with their continuous efforts to further improve an already wonderful system, has made ClubTexting.com one of our most valued partners!!!”

Tip Of The Month
The #1 thing that has contributed to the success of the Yellow Rose’s text messaging program is paying special attention to the customer. Here are a few tips for a successful SMS campaign:
- Give your customers a sense of security by letting them know how you respect their privacy. Remember, your customer has opened up to you by giving you their cell phone number. Cherish this trust and do not allow it to be abused.
- Include incentives for customers to subscribe in every call-to-action you promote.
- Club Texting’s Message Scheduling feature is especially useful during the busy season. Plan ahead and your customers will, too!
- Recognize the different purposes served by mass emails versus text messages. Emails are especially useful for upcoming event calendars and announcements, while text messages are most effective for same-day promotions and coupons.
- On that note, also recognize that many customers will choose which method to receive information from you. The Yellow Rose estimates about 2/3 of their SMS subscribers have chosen not to receive promotions via email.
- Schedule your “Send Times” in direct correlation with your target demographic, careful not to disturb anyone too early, or too late (2pm–8pm is optimum).
